The conditions are: You must have some knowledge of daily routine housework (knowledge gained at home is sufficient) and ability to look after children. Daily housework can mean: The duties of an applicant would undertake would be: general light housework, helping in the kitchen, dusting, hovering, washing up dishes, ironing, laying the table, light hand-washing and child care. Most homes are equipped with modern labor-saving devices. Generally you will work about 5-6 hours daily, according to the household timetable. In return the Au-pair family offers you: Free board and lodging, living with the family, reasonable pocket money, which varies from country to country, plus one day off in the week. If you intend to take an Au-pair post, you should: -Be 18 years of age. -Have a basic knowledge of the language of the host country or some spoken English. -Have some experience of routine housework. -Intend to stay  1 year or minimum 9 months a full school year. (September June) Short term 2-3 months is only for summer.  Be prepared to adjust to a different mentality and new ways of life.     When planning an Au-pair stay it is very advisable to bring some money in reserve, possibly for the fare home. As the pocket money per month is just about sufficient for the cost of the language course and little personal things and other expenses such as visits to the cinema or excursions, a small reserve of money could be useful.     To prepare yourself for an Au-pair post, you should acquire some information about the country, the people and their culture. It is, however incumbent upon you to make a rich experience of your stay and this will only be possible if you realize clearly the responsibilities and duties which you have to fulfill. Only by giving efficient and willing help can you make your stay abroad beneficial as well as acquire a deeper knowledge of the language.     All traveling expenses are to be paid by the Au-pair herself. If you don’t have the intention to accept all the conditions of the Au-pair post, in that case we advise you to go to a family as paying-guest, which we can also arrange. If you accept these conditions, the family will do their best to make your stay as happy as possible. Our organization is at your disposal in case you may have any problems. An Au Pair in Europe gets 200 to 250 Euros per month or more of pocket money depending on the country. An Au Pair in Australia gets 150 to 180 AUS$ per week of pocket money and also needs to do an English language course to get a Student Visa. You must give 2 weeks notice before leaving the family.
