Canada does not have an au pair program as such; however international
applicants can work in Canada under the Live In Caregiver visa. The government
guidelines for Live In Caregiver applicants state that applicants must have a
satisfactory level of English, and must have either two years experience with
children, or have completed the Live In Caregiver course in
their own country. Our agency will propose the applicant's file to potential
employers.
Canada has a very good program for foreign caregivers with specialties like
training or experience in early childhood education, geriatric care, pediatric
nursing or first aid, to name just a few areas.
The government guidelines for Live In Caregiver applicants state that applicants
must have a
1. High school education
2. Satisfactory level of spoken English.
3. You must have either two years experience with children, or
have a
some kind of studies related to childcare etc
Live-in Criteria An important requirement of the Program is that employees must
live in the employer's home. The Live-in Caregiver Program exists only because
there is a shortage of Canadians to fill the need for live-in care work. There
is no shortage of Canadian workers available for care giving positions where
there is no live-in requirement.
Here is some additional information on our procedures, for your review:

I would like to take a further moment to introduce our company. refers
candidates to nanny and housekeeper positions across
Canada, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax and Nova Scotia. We have
successfully placed candidates from overseas countries, including the
Philippines, Asia, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, Russia, South America
etc. Please note that KINGSBROOK USA Inc.
is not an employment agency, and therefore would not be the employer; however we
do refer candidates to our clients, who would be potential employers. Kingsbrook
USA Inc. is an established and reputable referral agency, which has been in
business for over eighteen years.
In order to begin processing an applicant's file, the following documents would
be required:
* Complete resume / Bio-Data
* Photograph (s)
* A letter introducing yourself to prospective employers
* Copies of any documents such as diplomas or written reference letters,
First Aid certificates, etc.
Upon receipt of the above documents and fee, the applicant's file can be
referred to potential employers across Canada. As this is a lengthy process, it
is important to forward the aforementioned fee and documentation to our office
as soon as the decision is made to utilize our services.
The potential employers would contact the applicants directly; the applicants
would of course have the choice to accept or decline a position (just as the
family has the choice to accept or decline a file). If the applicant declines,
we will simply send their file to other potential employers. If they and the
family accept each other, then they would begin the sponsorship process into
Canada. Once they have arranged for an employer, international applicants can
apply for a visa to Canada to work as
caregivers, through the Live In Caregiver Program. Our agency would be available
to assist them wherever possible, throughout the visa process and during their
stay. Upon their arrival in Canada, the family would pick them up from the
airport; however usually the caregiver is responsible for her own airline costs
to get to Canada.
I hope this information is of assistance. If you have any questions at all,
please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you again soon.
